My Story

My Story

In 2013, I received my first real camera — a Nikon D60 — and took my first DSLR shots in January 2014 along the beaches of Del Mar. I never planned to make anything of it. Photography was simply a way to reconnect with the ocean.

Surf photography is what pulled me deep into the craft. In my mid-twenties, I found myself going through some of the hardest years of my life — dealing with severe, disabling panic attacks. Getting back to the coast with a camera gave me something to hold onto. It helped me regain control and find calm through creativity.

For years I tried to learn everything — weddings, portraits, events, street, sports, night photography. I thought versatility was the goal. It wasn't until recently that I found my niche: ocean photography. It was what I first learned and first loved.

In October 2017, I put up my first art gallery at Pipes Cafe in Cardiff, CA. I'm grateful to Tim and Karen for trusting me with their wall. It felt like a full circle moment — and a beginning

I try not to follow every rule. Art is subjective. My goal is to create imagery that's interesting, beautiful, and occasionally a little outside the box.
